I am currently working as the Clinic Manager of a Federally Qualified Healthcare (FQHC) Center in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Our organization has the primary focus of providing Primary and Mental Health care to the under and un-insured residents of our community.

I have been in the healthcare industry for over 15 years. I started as an aid working in Mental Health and have worked in various different specialties as a Registered Nurse to include; Acute Care, Correctional, Ambulatory Outpatient Services, and Family Practice. I have served in leadership roles to include; Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing, and Clinic Manager. I have earned a Bachelors in Nursing from Oklahoma City University and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University. My professional and personal passions are Education, Leadership, and Mental Health.

I work for the State Health Department on a Grant from a local foundation who funds my position plus a school based social worker, mental health/drug alcohol counselors, and an early childhood person. We function as a CSHT (Coordinated school health team) at four rural school districts. I am the school nurse component. CSHT is the whole school, whole community, whole child model. I love helping new students find great experiences. This is a great public health experience at the grassroots level.

I travel to 4 rural school districts to the schools. This experience is public health nursing but also has aspects of community health nursing components. I would welcome a research project to improve the health outcomes for my schools.
